In Year 2, we recognise the importance of understanding and applying spelling rules and we encourage children to learn their home spellings diligently. We will have a spelling quiz and new spelling lists will be given out on Fridays.

We aim to provide a solid foundation in mathematics, with a specific focus on multiplication and division this term. We ensure that students grasp key concepts and develop strong problem-solving skills. Through interactive lessons and practical examples, we aim to make learning maths enjoyable and accessible to all children in Maple Class.

History -One of our chosen heroes is Florence Nightingale, a pioneering nurse who made a remarkable impact on the field of healthcare. We explore her inspiring journey, her contributions to modern nursing, and how her work continues to influence healthcare practices today. In comparison we will also be studying the life of Mary Seacole. By studying these remarkable individuals, we hope to develop values of compassion, determination, and resilience in our students.
Science -This Spring term in Science we will cover animals, including humans. We believe it's essential for children to understand the wonders of the animal kingdom and the intricate connections between animals and humans. We explore different animal habitats, their unique adaptations and their life cycles and behaviours. Our aim is to foster a sense of curiosity and appreciation for the incredible diversity of life on our planet.
Our PE days are Tuesdays and Friday. Please remember to wear school PE kits on these days.

We anticipate a year packed with exciting learning experiences and look forward to being a part of the children’s learning journey this year.
