Mental Health and Wellbeing

“Mental health is a state of well-being in which every individual realises his or her own potential, can cope with the normal stresses of life, can work productively and fruitfully, and is able to make a contribution to her or his community.” (World Health Organization)

In our school, our Christian vision shapes all we do:

“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me,” (Philippians 4:13) so that I can be the best that I can be and flourish for God, for others and for myself.

St Andrew’s is a Church of England school, which welcomes all children and enables them to flourish.

At St Andrew’s we aspire to develop the gifts and talents of all our children and to equip them with the knowledge and skills to achieve their potential. Through our teaching and collective worship, we will nourish those of the Christian faith, encourage those of other faiths and challenge those who have no faith. We enable all our pupils to FLOURISH by providing a wide range of educational opportunities and experiences. We care for all our members within a secure family environment. We encourage and value an active partnership between school, home and the wider world.

In addition, we aim to promote positive mental health for every member of our staff and pupil body. We pursue this aim using both universal, whole school approaches and specialised, targeted approaches aimed at vulnerable pupils.
